The first chapter starts off with a bang. First of all, wolves don't typically hang out where there is no food and wolves feed on the animal their pack taught them to hunt. They don't hunt indescrimately unless they are rogue or hybrid wolf/dog mix. Wolves do not just walk up to you either. And what about the tracks just disappearing?

I think a key point is the wolf's Zen like calm. The ranch has that affect to lure in the bait. The size of the wolf is crazy. I wonder what brings all the different species there and for what purpose. If it wasn't for the fact of attacking the calf, you would wonder if its a illusion.

Has anyone heard what the problems the Gorman's had in Mexico. They must of had big trouble to up and move a cattle ranch.

Well that was a long chapter!

Judging from the "wolf's" behavior and how the tracks just disappeared I don't think this is a species native to our world. Or is it? Is it a wolf in sheep's clothing so to speak?

According to the George Knapp DVD the rancher was shown pictures of different wolf species and the one he pick is distinct.

I wish NIDS would hire me I would love to be there 24 hours a day it would be so cool.

NIDS is still there? It would be interesting to shadow one of the scientists for a week or so.

The thing that I thought was so interesting is how after being shot, it didn't phase the wolf. I was waiting to read that it cried out, but it never did. I don't think I would want to be near a beast like that. It sounds enormous!

I think the connection with the Buffalo soldiers and the Freemasons is very interesting. The people in Roosevelt when I first move there told me that the Utes were part African American and Ute. I really never understood what that meant till now.

I had a Ute that work for me at Pizza Hut. We were good friends and he would never talk to me about the skinwalkers. He did tell me at night they would cover their windows with heavy blankets so the skinwalkers couldn't look in. But that was all he would tell me and I bug him to death about it.

It was confirm that the main homestead had huge locks on all doors. Not just the main doors but all doors.

I also knew Pete Pickup. The man that Nids hire to help at the ranch. He was a retired Police officer. He would talk alot of the cattle mutilations and the trickster things that happen there. But he would always warn not to go there.

The first time I visited the ranch right next to the main gate was a huge chunk of fresh fur off of her knows what hanging there. I took a picture of it and was told it meant KEEP OUT!!!!!

The history of the place is very interesting. Since the strange activity goes back 15 generations in Indian lore I doubt the activity is going to just stop now. The book keeps mentioning the land is rich with gilsonite. I wonder if it's being used for something we're totally unaware of. It's rich in hydrocarbon material. And the previous owners putting the clause in the sale of the ranch that they had to be informed if the new owners were going to dig on the property...what's up with that? What if the new owners did dig on the ranch...what could the previous owners do about it? That's very curious. I wish the authors could have interviewed the previous owners.

The fact that geomagnetic anomalies occur on the ranch is interesting as well. Compasses spin wildly out of control. Sounds like the Bermuda Triangle stories. I also wonder what Brigham Young's scouts meant reporting to him if this area was habitable that is was valueless except for nomadic purposes, hunting and to hold the world together. Hmmm

The Bottle Hollow Reservoir is interesting as well. People reporting a giant snake and lights seen entering and leaving the water. So far this sounds like a portal where animals and whatever else from a parallel universe can come and go at will. That would explain why they can breathe our air if the parallel world is similar to ours.
As theory goes, the separation of universes is only 1 trillioneth of a millimeter thick. Has another world figured out how to cross that boundary at will?

THe Masons is an interesting thing of note. Believe it or not I am skeptical of the whole secret society thing, but it is interesting that they keep popping up in odd locations.

What do you think about the black rock canyon piece?

George Knapp says the Dire Wolf was 200 lbs. Sherman was a tall man over 6 Ft. and the book says the wolf came to his waist. When the wife was stopped at the gate she said it was as tall as her car.

Well, I missed a week so let's pick this back up. Read chapters 4, 5, and 6 and we'll start discussing the chapters. Sorry I fell down on the job but I was taking care of my Mom after surgery.

I think the airtime it gets on Coast probably has popularized the book.

Going back to your comment about the fur hanging on the fence, and its meaning (keep out). When Cromag, Papacrock and I told our Ranch story at a mufon mtg, it included an account of a man approaching our camp in the dark, and coughing, but not coming close enough for us to see him. One of the mufonians told us that can be a cultural (native american) signal, meaning "you are not welcome. Go away," or something like that.

If that's what happened, I feel kinda embarassed for intruding. But another thought occurs: was someone trying to actually protect us, by warning us off? And were they doing the same thing with the fur you saw hanging on the fence? Is the concept of Skinwalkers so scary that native folks would try to protect people by warning them away?
