I put this on the other planet kolob page, but wanted to see if anyone had any more advice or information. This is just a cut and paste:
This is going to come out strange I suppose, but I am curious if anyone has any experience or knows anything about excessive kinetic energy. I often joke that I have way too much, mostly because electronics tend to flake out prematurely. That could be attributed to pretty much anything, however, my experience with lights is the main reason I am posting this topic. Ever since I was a young kid, light bulbs tend to burst (not glass shattering, just blow out). We use the proper ampage, and dont leave them on when we leave. They will just go out when I go to turn the lights on. Now, this is not an all the time thing, but I have months where it happens ALOT. For instance, the past month, every single light in my bedroom has blown out, every single light in my family room has blown, stairwell, etc. We replaced the lights, and within a week, as I was turning the lights on, they blew out again. Normally I would think it is just an electrical problem, which it very well could be. However, this does not happen just at my house. It happens at my work, friends houses, and happened at my old house in CA. Again, this does not just happen randomly while sitting in a room, it always happens when I go to flip the switch. Anyway, does anyone have any idea on this? Thanks a bunch

I have had this same problem most of my life. I also have printers, faxes and other office products go haywire around me at work. When my co-workers see me coming they joke that I am going to make whateven device I am approaching go crazy.
I think there are people who just have more energy within them. I have learned to touch something else before I turn on lights, answer phones, etc.... to ground myself before I touch something with power. It seems to be working because I don't blow through light bulbs or phones for that matter the way I used to.
I went through 10 phones in one year once. I got shocked EVERY time I would answer one. That's when I learned to touch something else before reaching for anything electrical.
Try it and let me know if it works for you. I know going through tons of light bulbs can get expensive! |

It sure does get expensive. I actually have this joke that since my name is Amber (which means electricity in greek), I was born with excessive energy. I do get shocked alot, exiting my car etc, but I never really get shocked when I turn the lights on. Did you ever notice if it happened excessively at certain points in your life, or was it constant for you? For me, its off and on (no pun intended). Right now for instant, its almost constant, but I went several months where nothing happened at all. Anyway, thanks for the input!

Every car I've owned does this to me. I find myself using a lot of expletives during certain times of the year, esp when I forget to use my elbow to close the vehicle door. A good friend of mine reminded me of something important recently, so I'll pass it along. We women tend to have a different style than men when we gas up our cars. We often re-enter the vehicle while the gas is pumping, opening the car door for one reason or another. This is a good way to produce a static spark, which can then ignite the gas and boom! goes your gas tank and car. As I said, apparently this most often happens to women. You can avoid this by touching the metal on your vehicle (somewhere far away from the gas tank!), before you start to fill up, and before you re-enter the vehicle (if you must do so). That will dissipate the static charge.
Here is an article and a video of what can happen:

| I never have problems with my car...just lights and electrical stuff. I usually never get shocked either. Its rare that I do when stuff like this happens. |

I have this problem too and thought I was just nutzo!
I will walk down a street at times, and as I pass a streetlight, they will GO OUT! At first I thought it was just because they go off at a certain time, but I'll even drive down the road in the middle of the night, and lights will just GO OFF! Also, Amber can attest that other things always go crazy around me- such as last night at the Exchange when my camera started going nuts and taking blue pictures! (well that could've just been the ghosts) but still.. |

| Haha that stuff happens to me too! The streetlights and what not. I also have a bad habit of draining batteries. I can attest Adam! It happened to me as well! My batteries that were supposed to last twice as long for digcams lasted 20 mins. Horrible! Maybe we just have too much energy around us. Boo energy! |

I get shocked all the time getting in and out of my car. So I am very cautious when putting gas in my car.
I do tend to get WAY more static/energy around me in the wintertime because the air is so cold and dry.
Maybe we need to wear fresh dryer sheets close to our bodies!!! :0) |
