This is going to sound mean. It's not meant to be. If it hurts your feelings...well, there's not much I can do about that, so I'm not really going to sweat it. It's not directed at anyone in particular, but if you feel a bit convicted, then maybe it is directed towards you.
Most of the people on this forum are adults. They are able to do adult things like drink, have sex, buy firearms, leave home in the middle of the night without warning and take responsibility for cutting their fingers off when playing with sharp objects. They have bills, responsibilities and have put much of the stupidity of their youth behind them.
Some of the people on this forum are kids. That's okay. Be kids. Youth is a beautiful thing. You have your whole life in front of you and hopefully it'll be a full one. There is nothing wrong with being a kid.
That being said...
We are not your parents, guidance counselors, teachers, mentors or role models. If you plan on hanging out with adults, then you should do your best to act like one. Does that mean that you can't say silly things or act weirdly? Obviously not (read some of my posts for Hell's sake). But it does mean that some of the juvenile shit that you would do on other forums is inappropriate at best, and really annoying at worst.
While youthful exuberance is beautiful, a little maturity goes a long way.
Furthermore...We are not responsible for you. If your parents, the law, the man or Jesus Christ himself bar you from owning or doing anything you read here, then you must obey that authority figure. Nothing here is meant to imply that you should ignore them. Your parents are God and as far as you're concerned, they know best. If you do something they told you not to, just because you read it here, I hope they beat the shit out of you, or give you a time out.
I know this sounds crabby, but some of the posts around here are reminding me of Junior high, without the miniskirts. I'm old. I'm crabby. So there. |
