Bill Gates: The Robots Are Coming
In an article in the latest Scientific American, Microsoft’s Bill Gates predicts that household robots will soon “become a nearly ubiquitous part of our day-to-day lives.” Gates believes that robotics is the next hot field, and says it reminds him of the good old days in the PC industry before he and Paul Allen became gazillionaires. He does point out that people shouldn’t expect C3PO or Commander Data to show up any time soon and that we may not even call the many new devices ‘robots’ because they wont be walking around (suggeting the catchy name ‘mobile peripheral devices’). No word yet on if they will have a blue screen of death.
