Chuck (my husband) and I were both off work today so we took a drive through the old Pony Express Trail and to see Aunt Libby's Pet Cemetary. It was so sweet! Some have said they get a creepy feeling there but I felt peaceful and warm and fuzzy there. It was a lovely place and I'd like to spend more time there just to get away from the city and think.

What a sweet loving gesture of Aunt Libby to have buried all her animal companions in such a peaceful spot.

That's so cool, I'm glad you finally made it out there. Did you take a few pix or audio clips?

I took a couple of pix but don't know how to direct you to them on my photobucket. Nothing special about them. If anyone knows how I can get the photobucket link on here let me know.

Lyddia, the road was clear all the way. The potholes my husband had seen the last time he was on that road are filled in now. There is snow on the mountains but not much. I wouldn't try it after another snowstorm, tho. It will be a cool place to go. We stopped at Camp Floyd on the way. They aren't open but we just walked around, read the markers and I pet the horses, of course.

I didn't get any recordings because my husband wouldn't shut up. He isn't usually such a talker but if I heard about him having a flat tire at "that turnout, no wait, maybe it was the turnout further up, hmmm, maybe it was that one"....one more time I was going to knock him out...jeez! I guess after 27 years of marriage I'd be used to it by now but I'll be glad to leave him home when I go again! Laughing

Here's the best directions I can give.

Go out Redwood Rd. all the way to the crossroads. Must be about even with Orem. Turn right and follow the Pony Express route. You drive a long time till you come to Highway 36 and Faust which is just one house as far as I can tell. You can only go left or right. Turn left going south. The next road turn right. Before you turn, on the left of Hwy 36 is a tin shack with "BEER" written on it. After turning right just keep driving on that road and it will take you right to it. It's just barely up into the mountains there and there is a sign for the next Pony Express Way Station on the right and a sign pointing to the Pet Cemetary which is on the left (south) side of the road.

A friend of mine just told me that the pet cemetery was created by Orrin Porter Rockwell's sister-in-law. Another told me there are a couple of (known) humans buried there.

So it makes one wonder... if YOU were a stone-cold, fervent, vigilante outlaw living in the area, and needed a logical place to inter your victims... see where I'm going with this????
